MDG Technology for MIcrosoft office
Introduction
MDG Integration for Microsoft Office was developed to integrate Microsoft Office and Visio. It enables you to import documents and tables into Enterprise Architect and keep them up to date.
Word & Excel
With the MDG integration for Microsoft Office, teams can import information from Word and Excel documents into Enterprise Architect as model elements. This means that requirements, use cases and other project information can be managed in the Enterprise Architect repository and kept synchronised with subsequent changes in Word and Excel documents.
PowerPoint
The Office integration enables EA users to publish the model content in PowerPoint presentations. Use your model right in a PowerPoint presentation, knowing that this presentation is always up-to-date with the latest changes in your model.
Visio
Visio diagrams can also be imported into your Enterprise Architect model. This simplifies data reuse, traceability, project management, software development, simulation, validation and much more.
The main benefits
Seamless integration of Microsoft Office and Enterprise Architect.
Importing requirements, use cases and much more from Word and Excel documents.
Import of existing requirements and use cases into Enterprise Architect as modelling elements.
Easy sharing and exchange of model information with the popular Office tools.
Synchronise Office documents with model changes.
Benefit from the advantages of traceability and impact analysis.
Import Visio diagrams into Enterprise Architect.
Migration of existing data from Visio to Enterprise Architect to make better use of it throughout the company.
The Excel import allows users to import content from Excel workbooks into Enterprise Architect as model elements. This includes importing elements, connectors, attributes and operations. Excel Export in turn allows users to export changes from Enterprise Architect as model content, including elements, connectors, tagged values, attributes and operations. Users have the flexibility to create model content in a pre-formatted Excel spreadsheet.
The Word Import allows users to import requirements, use cases, processes, classes, etc. from Word documents into Enterprise Architect as model elements.
Following a methodical approach, sections, tables and other details such as limited name value pairs can be mapped into Enterprise Architect elements and their properties. A definition of user-defined tagged values is also supported. Reusable profiles offer users a convenient way to define the configurations once for a specific document structure (template) and reuse it for all documents that follow a similar structure. The reusable profiles provide users to define the configuration once for a specific document structure (template) to reuse it for documents that have a similar structure.
Powerpoint integration allows users to access the Enterprise Architect repository within a PowerPoint presentation to access the underlying model and create references. Users can insert model element names as links, diagrams as images and insert package contents as tables in the presentation. Of course, the references can be updated to always present the latest model information in PowerPoint.
The MDG integration for Office also includes a Visio Importer. The Visio Importer helps to translate Microsoft Visio diagrams into their model value in Enterprise Architect (files with VSD and VDX extensions). The migration from Visio to Enterprise Architect helps you to make better use of existing data. Further information can be found here.
