The internal structure of a class can be described using the Composite Structure Diagram. The diagram is new in UML 2.0 / 2.1. At first glance, the diagram can easily be confused with a communication diagram.

The following figure shows a Composite Structure Diagram and an associated Class Diagram with compositions. The message of both diagrams is the same.
